Once you think migrating to Australia you have to look for few basic things such as whether your occupation is listed in skill occupation list, age, English proficiency, employment, Australian qualification, Australian employment, occupation in demand (job offer), partner skills, regional study, State/Territory government nomination and recognized skill in community language.

The pass mark for Independent skill category is 120 points and it is subject to change in the future.

1. To qualify for skill- independent category
   • Satisfy basic requirements
     
     
   • Pass point tests
     
     
   • Submit evidence that you are under 45 years, employed in skill occupation for 12 months in last 24 months or you meet your years study requirement in last 2 years.
     
     
   • Skill assessment by respective assessing bodies and if skill assessment is based on Australian qualification it should be part of CRICOS registered course.
     
     
   • English proficiency (Vocational, Competent and Proficient)
2. To qualify for skill sponsored category
   • Satisfy basic requirements
     
     
   • Able to pass point test
     
     
   • Be nominated by a state or territory government or sponsored by eligible Australian relative.
     
     
   • Submit evidence that you are under 45 years, employed in skill occupation for 12 months in last 24 months or you meet your years study requirement in last 2 years.
     
     
   • Skill assessment by respective assessing bodies and if skill assessment is based on Australian qualification it should be part of CRICOS registered course.
     
     
   • English proficiency (Vocational, Competent and Proficient)

Sponsorship by relatives: He or she must be Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen. You or your spouse or your interpendent partner must be related with sponsor as a non-dependent child, parents, a brother or sister, a niece or nephew, an aunt or uncle There are onshore and off shore migration.
